ASDAN Gardening Short Course
Our ASDAN Gardening Short Course is a calm, practical and fun programme designed to help learners build confidence, independence and real gardening skills.
With 50+ pre-recorded lessons and hands-on activities learners can explore gardening at their own pace.All videos, worksheets and supporting resources are included, making the course accessible, structured and SEN-friendly.
Upon completion, learners receive supportive moderation and an ASDAN certificate to celebrate their achievement.
⭐ What the course covers
The Gardening Short Course includes six engaging modules:
🌼 1. Planting in the Garden
Flowers, pollination, germination, annuals and perennials.
🥕 2. Growing Food on the Allotment
From kitchen scraps to homegrown vegetables and herbs — suitable even without an allotment.
🦔 3. Wildlife in the Garden
Creating habitats, mini wildflower meadows, bug hotels and more.
🍵 4. Using Your Produce in the Kitchen
Chutneys, soups, herbal teas and oils and simple step-by-step recipes.
🛠️ 5. Construction in the Garden
Practical DIY tasks to support your growing space.
🎨 6. Art in the Garden
Creative, sensory-friendly ways to bring colour and imagination outdoors.
Each module includes short, accessible lessons and activities designed to support SEND learners and learners who thrive with clear structure and gentle pacing.
⭐ What you’ll need
Due to the practical nature of this course, learners will need access to basic gardening resources (e.g., soil, seeds, simple tools). A printer is helpful but not essential.
⭐ Who the course is for
This course is aimed at learners aged 11+, though younger learners may participate if working at the appropriate academic level — please feel free to contact me to discuss suitability.

Important Enrolment Information
SENshine Tutoring is currently transitioning from ASDAN accreditation to the AQA Unit Award Scheme.
ASDAN courses are still available to enrol on for a limited time, with the final enrolment date of 13 April 2026. This allows learners plenty of time to complete their course before the final completion deadline of 1 April 2027.
Families may choose to enrol on an ASDAN course now, or wait for the new AQA unit-based courses launching from September, where learners will gain certificates for individual units as they progress.
