ASDAN Science Short Course

The ASDAN Science Short Course is a calm, supportive and inspiring programme designed for learners working towards their Science GCSEs — while keeping curiosity and enjoyment at the heart of every lesson.

Created in partnership with the Centre for Science Education, this online course includes 50+ pre-recorded lessons, hands-on activities and optional  Zoom  sessions. Learners can work entirely at their own pace — there are no deadlines and no pressure.

All PowerPoint slides, worksheets and supporting resources are included, making the course accessible, structured and SEN-friendly.

Learners may join optional Zoom sessions with me to ask questions, explore topics and receive extra guidance (camera/mic optional). On completion, learners receive supportive moderation and an official ASDAN certificate.

What the course covers

The Short Course is divided into six engaging modules:

👁️ 1. The Human Machine

The human eye and ear, the immune system, and measuring infrared radiation.

⚖️ 2. Forces and Motion

Newton’s Laws, speed, velocity, and practical physics investigations.

🧪 3. Chemical Change

pH, enzymes, the periodic table, combustion and hands-on chemistry.

🌱 4. Biological Challenges

Plant structure and function, adaptation, and biological processes.

🌌 5. Space Physics

Constellations, Moon phases, and real telescope images via the Schools' Observatory.

🏃 6. Performance in Sport

Each module combines clear explanations with practical, real-life tasks to help learners build confidence and understanding.
